Search phenotypic data

To determine disruption phenotypes on a large scale, we have transformed nearly 7,000 mTn-insertion alleles into a haploid strain for phenotypic analysis under 21 different test conditions. To determine cellular functions associated with a given gene (e.g., MYO1), "MYO1" may be entered in the "gene or ORF" field of our category-specific phenotype data search page. By not specifying a particular assay, we can view all recorded phenotypic data for any strain carrying a transposon insertion within MYO1. To scan resulting search output more easily, we may click on the V62D1 clone ID in order to receive a corresponding composite report featuring all phenotypic assays for this strain. The MYO1 gene encodes a myosin heavy chain protein involved in septation and cell wall organization; accordingly, strain V62D1 exhibits a number of defects in cell wall biogenesis and maintenance (note strong growth abnormality in media supplemented with BCIP, hygromycin, and 0.003% SDS).
